As revealed earlier today by Deadline, it appears the first fresh new face has been cast for Scream 5.
Vida and In the Heights star Melissa Barrera has been cast first new face in the fifth film in the franchise. She joins Scream stars David Arquette and Courteney Cox who will be reprising their roles as Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers.
"Melissa Barrera has booked a key role in Scream 5, we can reveal, becoming the first new cast member to be announced for the anticipated Spyglass Media and Paramount relaunch."
Neve Campbell has yet to be confirmed to return but she has said she's been in talks to reprise her iconic role as Sidney Prescott. And me personally, with Arquette and Cox already on board, I can't see her turning it down.
Casting for the film is still underway with cameras due to role in Wilmington, North Carolina this Autumn. Paramount aim to finish shooting by the end of the year and release in 2021. We still don't have any info regarding a title or the story, the filmmakers are remaining pretty tight lipped at the moment. We'll update you as soon as we know anything.
