Courteney Cox is now confirmed to reprise her iconic role as Gale Weathers in the fifth Scream film.
Earlier this year a NEW Scream film was announced from Ready or Not film makers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. They are resurrecting the iconic slasher franchise for Spyglass Media Group and Paramount Pictures.
David Arquette had already been confirmed to return, but now Courteney Cox has officially been announced to join her ex-husband and reprise her role. The announcement was made in a statement released by Radio Silence earlier today.
"We can’t imagine Scream without the iconic Gale Weathers and are so incredibly thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Courteney. We’re absolute mega fans of her work and we’re so excited to join her in the next chapter of the Scream saga!”
Of course Scream star and final girl Neve Campbell is still in talks and has yet to be confirmed to return as Sidney Prescott. However, with these two signed on it's hard to believe she won't join them.
Scream 5 is being directed by Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick.
Screams original writer Kevin Williamson and the third member of the Radio Silence trio, Chad Villella, are executive producing with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak serving as producers.
