Eli Roth's History of Horror Season 2 Details

In 2018, film-maker Eli Roth took a closer in the horror genre with his truly fantastic series History of Horror. The docuseries examined different sub-genres whilst interviewing some of those remarkable people that brought some of horror's most ionic moments to the silver screen. Series 1 took a closer look at Zombies, Slashers, Demons Inside, Killer Creatures and Ghost Stories. It was a remarkable series that left horror fans longing for more (you can read my mini-review here). Luckily our prayers were answered, and Eli Roth has just announced the details for the Second Season as well as releasing the first poster and teaser.

“Season 2 of Eli Roth’s History of Horror digs even deeper into the catacombs of creepiness, exhuming landmark films and cult classics while chewing on the entrails of recent horror cinema. The series explores the dark power and wicked fun of scary movies, the craft that went into making them, and the ways that horror films reflect the anxieties of their times. The story is told by Eli Roth and a celebrated cast of writers, directors, actors, cinematographers, composers, and special effects artists who bring our nightmares to life.”

This season will explore-

  • “magic-wielding witches”

  • “misshapen monsters”

  • “infamously evil youngsters”

  • “hell houses”

  • “body horror”

The interviewees for Season 2 include Stephen King, Quentin Tarantino, Jordan Peele, Ari Aster, Bill Hader, Nancy Allen, Megan Fox, Greg Nicotero, Rob Zombie, James Brolin, Edgar Wright, Piper Laurie, Leonard Maltin, Katharine Isabelle, Jack Black, Slash, Rachel True, Ashley Laurence, Joe Dante, Roger Corman, Mary Harron, John Landis, Tom Savini, Karyn Kusama, and many others.

The series will air on AMC October 10th, 2020 in the US. As it currently stands, there is no set date for UK release. The first season got picked up by Shudder so hopefully we won't have to wait too long to see it. For now, check out the teaser trailer below.
