I'll say it now, and I'll stand by it: Train to Busan is still arguably the best zombie film to come out in the last 10 years. Yeon Sang-ho's South Korean horror thriller is an absolute masterclass in how to do zombie horror right, delivering a relentless, emotionally charged ride that grabs you by the throat and refuses to let go.
From the moment things kick off, you're thrown into a nightmare that only gets worse as the journey progresses. The tension throughout this film is something else, constantly pushing you towards uncomfortable levels of anxiety as you watch the characters desperately fight to survive. There are moments where you'll genuinely find yourself holding your breath, wondering how the hell anyone is going to get out of this alive.

And those zombies? They are legitmately terrifying! Fast, aggressive and utterly relentless, these aren't the slow-moving corpses you can casually stroll away from. When they come charging down those train carriages, it's absolute nightmare fuel.
What makes Train to Busan even better is that there's real heart beneath all the carnage. The characters feel human, their struggles carry genuine emotional weight, and the film understands that sometimes the most frightening thing isn't the monsters trying to tear you apart, but how people behave when survival becomes their only priority.

Ten years on, this remains an absolute belter of a zombie film. It's brutal, heartbreaking, brilliantly paced and packed with some genuinely unforgettable sequences. There have been plenty of zombie films over the years, but very few manage to combine this level of tension, horror and emotion so effectively.
If you've somehow missed this one, get it on your watchlist immediately. Just don't expect a relaxing train journey!
The box set will be available via Well Go USA on 15th December, 2026. Which kind of makes this the perfect Christmas gift for any horror fan (I hope my wife ends up reading this at some point... hint hint). You can check out the trailer below. The box set will be available on 4K UltraHD & Blu-ray, with the remaster also releasing on DVD.
