Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan, Cheri Oteri & Jon Abrahams Join Scary Movie 6

It looks like Scary Movie 6 is gearing up one hell of a sequel! Honestly, this casting update may be the best news I've covered this year.

Original Scary Movie stars Dave Sheridan (Officer Doofy), Cheri Oteri (Gail Halestorm) and Jon Abrahams (Bobby) have all signed on to appear in the upcoming sequel set to release June 12th, 2026. Additionally Chris Elliott, who played strong handed butler Hansen in Scary Movie 2, has also joined the cast alongside Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans and Heidi Gardner.

Scary Movie 6 has added Damon Wayans Jr. (New Girl), Kim Wayans (In Living Color), and Heidi Gardner to its cast, setting two franchise vets to return: Gardner’s fellow SNL alum Cheri Oteri and Chris Elliott.

Character details for the newcomers to the Miramax horror spoof franchise are under wraps. It’s unclear whether Oteri and Elliott will reprise past roles or take on new ones — given the nature of these films, anything is possible. Oteri previously appeared in the first Scary Movie in 2000 as Gail Halstorm, a sensationalist television reporter parodying Courteney Cox’s Scream character Gale Weathers. Elliott is remembered for playing Hanson, the creepy haunted mansion caretaker from 2001’s Scary Movie 2, though he also appeared in 2006’s Scary Movie 4 as a different character — Ezekiel, a village loon.

Scary Movie 6 is currently in production, with previously announced legacy cast members including Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Regina Hall, Anna Faris and Lochlyn Munro. Franchise newcomers Olivia Rose Keegan, Savannah Lee Nassif, Cameron Scott Roberts, Sydney Park, Gregg Wayans, Ruby Snowber, and Benny Zielke also star.

We're not sure what we can expect from the film at the moment, as things are still being kept under wraps. However, Marlon Wayans also recently revealed in an interview with Comicbook.com, he has an idea of what films he already wants to parody.

“I mean, you know, I’m just a fan of the whole genre, man. I Know What You Did Last Summer may have something in there. I think the Scream franchise is always a great one. I think Heretic was a wonderful film. Longlegs. Get Out. Nope. There are just so many great horror films to pull from that we plan on having a field day. Sinners.”

The Wayans and Rick Alvarez are writing and producing the sixth entry, with Michael Tiddes (A Haunted House) directing. Wayans also revealed to EW they plan to poke fun at these new age elevated horror films.

"I think you have to acknowledge how comedy has changed. Not just horror has changed, but films have changed, the audience has changed, the world has shifted. I think the way to do that is to make the generational gap part of the conversation. That's how we constructed the movie so we could talk about it all. It's a conversation with these funny characters, and they just so happen to be going through this. The more pressure you put on characters and the more horrific the situations, that's when you really get to know the characters."

Wayans also promised Scary Movie 6 will be "no holds barred and equal opportunity offenders."
