Anna Farris & Regina Hall Returning for Scary Movie Reboot

We reported in May 2024, that Paramount was gearing up to reboot iconic spoof film Scary Movie. And some regular faces from the franchise are coming back to join the Wayans Brothers.

Scary Movie alumni Anna Farris and Regina Hall are also returning to the horror comedy franchise. The two will be reprising their roles as Cindy and Brenda for the upcoming film set to release June 12th, 2026.

Farris and Hall released a joint statement sharing their excitement of bringing these character back to life.

“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again).”

The Scary Movie film franchise was developed by Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans and Keenen Ivory Wayans over 20 years ago. Keenen Ivory Wayans directed to the first two film, whilst co-writing them with Marlon and Shawn ( who also and starred in both films).

Upon announcing their return to the franchise, Marlon, Shawn and Keenen Wayans told Deadline-

“We couldn’t be more excited to be a part of the new Scary Movie and work with each other again. This is a franchise we created more than 20 years ago. We remember people laughing in the aisles and hope to see that happen again. We look forward to working with Jonathan Glickman and his team at the new Miramax to bring these laughs to theaters, where they belong. It’s a double reunion.”
