Back in January, we reported that a third Gremlins film was on the way, and then again later as script was waiting on approval from Spielberg. Well, Warner Brothers have now given the film an official release date.

Warner Bros Announce Gremlins 3 Release Date

The film has been officially added to Warner Bros' release schedule for November 2027, as revealed by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO & president David Zaslav in an investors meeting earlier today.

Gizmo will return to the big screen, along with those maniacal (and hilarious) Gremlins, November 19th, 2027.

Steven Spielberg is returning to the franchise as executive producer, with the film's original writer Chris Columbus on board to produce and direct the third Gremlins installment. Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein will co-write the screenplay with Columbus. Kristie Macosko Krieger and Holly Bario are producing for Amblin Entertainment alongside 26th Street Pictures’ Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe.

“Few titles are as beloved and iconic as ‘Gremlins,’ and we’re beyond excited to bring it back for both lifelong fans and a whole new generation. It’s a privilege to be working alongside Steven [Spielberg], Chris [Columbus], and the entire creative team, and we look forward to audiences experiencing the next installment of the magic, mayhem, and heart of Gremlins on the big screen in 2027.” - Warner Bros. Pictures’ president of development and production Jesse Ehrman

Columbus did reveal in a 2017 interview with SlashFilm that the script he penned was dark & twisted, and they will not be opting for CGI over practical SFX and puppets.

"Oh, without a doubt, minimal CGI. CGI will enable us to remove wires and make the puppeteers lives a little easier. It was brutal. It was like a marathon every night for those guys. In the bar scene alone there were 18 [or] 20 people behind the bar. No one had any space to move. It was just hellish for those guys so CGI will simplify that a little bit but it's all puppets."

Whilst no details concerning plot, characters or cast have been released yet, we're keeping everything crossed that Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates return to reprise their roles from the first two films.
