It's been two years since audiences last ventured into the further in Insidious: The Red Door, and it looks like we'll be getting another chance come 2026. Whilst the previous film saw the return of the Lambert family, this film is set to bring back Lin Shaye's Elise.

Lin Shaye as Elise

Insidious alumni Lin Shaye has officially signed on, along with franchise newcomer Amelia Eve (The Haunting of Bly Manor). As reported by Deadline-

Lin Shaye and Amelia Eve are headlining the next Insidious movie from Blumhouse and Sony Pictures’ Screen Gems and Stage 6 Films.

Shooting is beginning next week in Australia, with Blumhouse setting August 21, 2026 as the release date. The script has been penned by David Leslie Johnson (The Conjuring 2) and Jacob Chase (Come Play), with Chase also taking over directorial duties. As of yet, nothing has been released regarding the film's narrative.

James Wan & Leigh Whannell are returning to the franchise they created in 2010 as producers alongside Jason Blum and Oren Peli. The film's co-writer Johnson will also executive produce alongside Ryan Turek, Steven Schneider and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones.

In addition to this, fans can also look forward to spin-off film Thread: An Insidious Tale, which was announced shortly before the release of Insidious: The Red Door. The spin-off flick comes from Blumhouse, Atomic Monster and Screen Gems. Whilst this will technically be the sixth film in the franchise, it is said to be an off-shoot project as opposed to a continuation of the current series.

As reported by Deadline-

The story here is that of a husband and wife who enlist the help of a spell to travel back in time, such that they can prevent the death of their young daughter. The consequences, of course, prove to be severe.

Jeremy Slater, most well known for creating the incredible (but short lived) Exorcist TV series, has penned the script and will be making his directorial debut. Mandy Moore (Dr Death) and Kumail Nankini (Welcome to Chippendales) have signed on to star. Thread: An Insidious Tale does not currently have a release date set.
