Don Mancini Writing & Directing New Chucky Movie

Don Mancini revealed last weekend at Steel City Con in Pennsylvania he is currently a brand new Chucky movie, and in even better news Mancini will also be directing it.

Mancini is currently writing a new Chucky film that will echo the approach of 2013's Curse of Chucky. Additionally, Mancini plans on releasing this into cinemas which will mark the first time in 22 years a Chucky film has hit the big screens - Curse & Cult both had just a home release, and the three season TV Series broadcast on USA & SYFY. According to Mancini’s comments at Steel City, his next Chucky movie will not only throw back to those Curse of Chucky franchise reset vibes, but the plan is for the movie to also connect itself to the events of the television series and previous movies. Mancini is big on continuity, with all of his movies and the show existing in an impressively connected single timeline.

Bloody Disgusting can confirm all of these details, while also noting that we’ve heard Mancini’s intention with the new Chucky movie is to make it SCARY, throwing back particularly to the tone of Curse of Chucky as well as the first two original Child’s Play movies. The plan is to also bring this new Chucky movie to THEATERS, rather than straight to television or digital.

Bloody Disgusting also exclusively revealed today that Mancini will also be directing the upcoming sequel. With Mancini involved and looking to return to the roots of the Child's Play franchise, this has the ingredients for something truly spectacular.

Fingers crossed we can see a few more familiar faces reuniting with everyone's favourite maniacal Good Guy. Jennifer Tilly had previously teased Chucky's return following the cancellation of the TV Show, so I don't doubt she'll be involved. I mean...can't have Chucky without Tiffany right?
