Following on from the other casting news earlier this week, we have another familiar face returning to the Scream franchise.
Courteney Cox has reportedly signed on to reprise her role as Gale Weathers. As reported by Variety-
Courteney Cox has finally signed on for “Scream 7.” Sources tell me that the actor will once again play Gale Weathers in the seventh installment of the beloved horror franchise.
Cox has played Weathers throughout the entire film franchise, beginning with Craven's original film in 1996. After barely surviving the events of the previous film, it'll be interesting to see where they go with character.
She joins previously announced cast mates Neve Campbell and Mason Gooding, who have also signed on to reprise their roles, and newcomers Isabel May (1883), McKenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), Celeste O’Connor (Freaky, Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Asa Germann (The Boys, Gen V) and Sam Rechner (The Fabelmans).

Other surviving legacy cast members Jasmin Savoy Brown, Patrick Dempsey, Courteney Cox and Hayden Panettiere have not signed on as of yet. Dempsey did reveal in an interview on the Today show in October, that he had been in talks to return but nothing since.
Scream original writer Kevin Williamson will make his directing debut with the sequel. The script is being written by Scream & Scream VI scribe Guy Busick. Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, William Sherak and Paul Neinstein are producing. Scream 7 will slash into cinemas 27th February, 2026.
