Create Entertainment & Intrinsic Value Films are set to unleash their upcoming horror, The Red Mask, on audiences at FrightFest 2025.

This film was crafted with genre lovers in mind – but also for those who’ve ever felt at war with the stories they’ve inherited and an identity they’ve wrestled with. It’s a bold, unflinching slasher that turns the remake on its head, laced with queer intimacy, internet venom, and razor-sharp commentary on the horrors of the American Culture Wars.
In The Red Mask-
A reclusive screenwriter retreats to a remote cabin to revive a classic 80s slasher – but when her screenplay starts writing back and masked strangers arrive with a hidden agenda, the lines between homage, horror, and reality bleed together in this meta, blood-soaked thriller.
When Allina Green, a hotshot indie screenwriter, is hired to revive a cult slasher franchise, she and her fiancée Deetz retreat to a remote rental to 'method-write' a fresh take. But as Allina’s script begins to rewrite itself and two unsettling strangers show up claiming to have booked the same cabin, her weekend writing retreat becomes a terrifying descent into fandom, identity, and a legacy she never asked to inherit.

Directed by Ritesh Gupta (2 Emmy nominations, 9 Cannes Lions), The Red Mask stars Helena Howard (Madeline's Madeline, The Wilds), Inanna Sarkis (After We Collided, Seance), with Jake Abel (The Lovely Bones, Percy Jackson, Love and Mercy) and Kelli Garner (Thumbsucker, The Aviator, Lars, The Real Girl, Godzilla: King of the Monsters). The film was produced by Atit Shah (Remember Me, Adventure Tom), Aimee Schoof & Isen Robbins (Queen of the Ring, Guns and Moses).
“The Red Mask is the kind of story I’ve been building toward for years: intimate, bloody, and loud. It’s brutally honest, weirdly funny, and deeply personal – and I can’t wait to watch it with the fans of FrightFest who truly love genre films. This is a movie about modern-day rage, obsession, culture wars and reclaiming authorship… with blood.” - director Ritesh Gupta
Producer Atit Shah also remarked, "While it explores themes like toxic fandom and the debate around fan ownership, The Red Mask pushes the meta even further—holding up a mirror to our obsession with controlling stories and the blurry line between homage and possession.”
