Surprise, surprise...Scream 8 is officially in development.

As reported by Deadline, Spyglass Media Group is officially developing the eighth film in the slasher franchise.
Spyglass is developing the eighth installment of the Scream franchise with Lilla and Nora Zuckerman writing.
The Zuckerman sisters most recently served as showrunners for the hit Peacock series Poker Face and have worked as writers and co-executive producers on popular series including Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Suits, Fringe and Prodigal Son.
Despite mixed reviews, Scream 7 raked in over $200 million at the box office worldwide (and set a new franchise record). This, in turn, turned Scream into a billion-dollar franchise so, this news comes to no surprise.

Scream 8 Officially In Development
Kevin Williamson has already said he has no plans to return to direct another film in the franchise, so it will be interesting to see who they bring in to direct the newest instalment. Potentially a return for Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett on the cards?
“This was always going to be one and done. I hope it’s not a surprise to anybody. This is the one I was going to do and Neve [Campbell] came back for it. This is it and I’m happy. As long as it stays fun, I would love to be a part of it. If they need my help, I’ll come running. What I’d love to do before I die is to create another horror franchise, but that all starts with just one movie. You have to make one great movie and see what happens.” - Kevin Williamson, interview with Ankler
Scream 7 has now released on digital, with plans on a physical media release (4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray & DVD) from June 16th. You can check out my review of the 'weakest film in the franchise' HERE.
