Producer David S. Goyer talks Hellraiser Reboot

Last year it was revealed that a reboot of Hellraiser was currently in the works, Collider caught up with producer David S. Goyer recently to discuss the upcoming film.

"We're literally in the midst of filming it right now," Goyer explained whilst also confirming that the reboot will be staying true to the original by going for an R-rating. Bruckner’s reboot is currently in full swing, with Odessa A’zion starring in one of the lead roles. Bruckner had recently called the film "something of a small reimagining" while also teasing that the movie aims to stay as true as possible to The Hellbound Heart, the original Clive Barker novella that became the Barker-directed horror classic, Hellraiser.

"I will say that we went back to the original novella for the source material, we're really honouring Clive's work. I can say that David Bruckner is a genius. It's filming right now. The footage is terrifying and amazing, and the Cenobites are jaw-dropping."

The big question on every fans mind at the moment is of course will we see Bradley as Pinhead again? When pressed Goyer simply responded with "I can't say". This could potentially be good news as Tony Todd's involvement with Nia DaCosta's Candyman was kept quiet for fans to enjoy that pay off at the end of the film. I'll keep my fingers crossed!

As for a release date or the chance of seeing any footage, unfortunately Goyer admitted he genuinely didn't know when fans will get their first glimpse as well as a specific release date. The reboot is currently on course for a 2022 release date. We'll be sure to update with more as soon as we can. You can read the full article from Collider here.
