So in a surprising, yet positive, turn of events Lionsgate have announced a third Orphan film.
We were originally introduced to Isabelle Fuhram's maniacal Esther in Jaume Collet-Serra’s Orphan in 2009, with a prequel film then releasing in 2022. Turns out Lionsgate have further plans for the franchise as they have announced a third film, with Isabelle Furham again returning. As reported exclusively by Variety-
The third film in the cult “Orphan” horror franchise has been officially green lit, with Isabelle Fuhrman — recently seen in Kevin Costner’s “Horizon” — returning to play her iconic role of Esther and “Orphan: First Kill’s” writer David Coggeshall (“The Family Plan”) and director William Brent Bell (“The Boy” franchise) also back behind the camera.
Plot details are being kept under wraps at the moment. With Fuhram reprising her role, I can imagine they'll be using a combination of CGI and trick photography as they did in Orphan: First Kill. The feature was announced by production banner Dark Castle Entertainment, with Lionsgate set to launch the project at the American Film Market this week.
